2nd LT Thomas Richard Temple, 1966

2nd LT Thomas Temple was born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and at some point his family moved to Lake Forest.  He graduated from Brown University, class of 1965. He was the co-captain of the varsity swim team and had an outstanding academic record. He entered the Marine Corp in 1966 and after graduating Officer Candidate School was sent to Vietnam. He died in 1966 at the age of 29. While serving as a Platoon Leader with the 3rd Marine Division, his patrol tripped an improvised explosive device.  Two of his marines were injured and 2nd LT Temple was killed outright. He is buried in Lake Forest Cemetery - Section C, lot 6, block 7
